May those who fear You see me and be glad, because I wait for Your word.
Psalm 119:74
When we are in the midst of trials, we tend to focus so much on circumstances that we fail to see the people who are around us. As a result, we often miss wonderful opportunities for ministry.
The psalmist wanted to be both an encouragement and testimony to his fellow believers. He was well aware that his circumstances were not just about him. In fact, it was his desire that other believers would actually delight in what God was accomplishing in his life, even in the midst of great trials.
What made the difference with the psalmist? It was his commitment to God’s word. Circumstances did not detract the psalmist from the word. As a result, he could be concerned about how his life would affect his fellow believers. He was careful to use his difficulties for the glory of God.
Paul understood the value of testimony as well.
Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.
1 Corinthians 11:1Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me!
2 Timothy 3:10–11
As you face the variety of challenges in this life, keep in mind that you can make an eternal difference in other people’s lives. Continue to wait for God’s word and determine to walk in a manner that pleases God. You might be shocked at how God will use your difficulty for His glory!
