And do not take the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for I wait for Your ordinances.
Psalm 119:43
Is it possible for a person who truly believes in God’s word to keep silent concerning it? The psalmist sees a direct link between waiting for God’s word and speaking it. It would be a great personal tragedy if he was not able to declare God’s truth.
In the midst of much opposition, Peter and John said they could not stop speaking about what God had revealed to them.
“…for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
Acts 4:20“And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Your bond-servants may speak Your word with all confidence…”
Acts 4:29
Sadly, many Christians today have a difficult time speaking at all about the great truths of God’s word. And we typically face little opposition.
Paul requested prayer that he would speak with boldness the mystery of the gospel.
With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Ephesians 6:18–20
Let’s pray for one another that we would also speak boldly as we ought to speak.
