Stability in an Unstable World (Psalm 119:89)

Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. Psalm 119:89
We live in a very unstable world. There is chaos and uncertainty everywhere. Sin has significantly impacted the entire world.   Can you envision what it would be like living in this sinful world without any communication from our Creator? We would have no trustworthy source of information. Everything we believe would be based on speculation. We would have no idea how we came to be on this earth. We would not understand sin and its consequences. We could only imagine what would happen when we die. There would be no way to have any sense of security about anything.   God is so incredibly kind to us. From the beginning of time, God has communicated with His people. There were times when He communicated directly to His prophets. He sent His only Son to actually live on this earth. He has also given to us His word so that we can actually read and study it, and He has given believers His Holy Spirit so that we have the ability to understand it.   The psalmist takes great delight in the fact that God’s word is trustworthy at all times. God does not change, so His word does not change. We don’t have to read the Bible and try to figure out what is accurate and what is not. God has carefully preserved His word for all generations.
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8
“For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.” Matthew 5:18
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.” Matthew 24:35
“…but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word which was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:25
What a gift the Lord has entrusted to us. Don’t leave it on the shelf or allow it to become a lesser priority. Enjoy it; read, study, and meditate on it. Cherish what God has generously provided for us. It is the only truth we can rely upon!
