My eyes fail with longing for Your salvation and for Your righteous word.
Psalm 119:123
Have you ever prayed for something day after day, year after year, longing for God to accomplish the work that He alone can accomplish? This is the picture of the psalmist. He has been praying and waiting so long that he feels as though his eyes would fail. His oppressors have been unrelenting, and God’s deliverance has not been quick to rescue him.
We can be very impatient people. Our expectation is often dashed because we think God should be obligated to our timetable. We often think in minutes, hours, or days. God’s view of time is quite different.
But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.
2 Peter 3:8
In the midst of such circumstances, we can be certain that what God has declared in His righteous word will absolutely come true. His plans will be perfectly orchestrated, and those of us who are His children will be immensely blessed.
Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
