Be surety for Your servant for good; do not let the arrogant oppress me.
Psalm 119:122
The psalmist continues to face the onslaught from the wicked. They oppose him at every turn, wanting nothing less than his utter destruction.
The promise of God is His guaranteed protection. While the wicked want to harm God’s children, God is committed to the good of His children.
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.
James 1:17
When we speak of the protection of God, we are not talking about protection from difficulty. We are talking about protection through difficulty. It is often through the great trials of life that the Lord accomplishes His eternal purposes in our lives. And when we are in the midst of great trial, we learn that our strength is in God alone!
And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
